Volunteer Facilitator

Fuel with Pflaum Facilitator

Do you think God may be prompting you to lead our parish families in their journey with Jesus Christ?  As we embark on a new adventure in faith formation this year due to COVID-19, we are seeking people who are interested in being facilitators to our young parishioners and their families in faith formation.

This year, there will be TWO volunteer opportunities.

  1. Facilitator (Pre-K through Grade 8):  Facilitators will guide families via monthly video chats in our new Fuel with Pflaum formation option.  Fuel with Pflaum will be based in the home with parent as primary catechist.  Registered families will have a facilitator, who will journey with them through the year.  A facilitator will meet with their designated families (parent and children) once a month via video chat.  During these meetings, the facilitator will be responsible for leading prayer, reading the Sunday Gospel, and assisting parents with helpful tips about the weekly lessons.  We anticipate that video chats will last about 20 minutes.
    1. Our consultant, Joan Stoltz, will send facilitators an outline for each family meeting, along with ideas to share with parents about engaging their children in the faith at home.  If you have been a catechist with us in the past, these outlines will very similar to the notes that she provided for classroom instruction.
    2. We will be having a drive-thru family faith and fun day at St. Max on Sunday, September 20 or Monday, September 21, where registered families will come and pick up materials and have some faith fun.  Monthly video chats with your facilitator are scheduled to begin on October 5.  Dates are subject to change.
    3. This role will not be based on grade level since interaction will be with the entire family, but if you prefer a certain age range of children within your families, please indicate preference while registering and we’ll do our best to place you accordingly.
  2. Facilitators (Ignite, option for 7th and 8th graders):  Interested in helping our 7th and 8th graders dig deeper?  Consider this bi-weekly in-person role at St. Max.  Ignite facilitators are like the “flame-throwers” of the group, as they will be guiding small group lessons and inspiring our youth to choose Christ and thrive in our faith.  If you love teaching, leading games, and facilitating small groups, there is definitely a place for you on this team!  The commitment is bi-monthly on Sundays from 4:30-6:00 pm.  Sunday, September 27 is the  Ignite kick-off.  Date is subject to change.

Our team will be hosting a facilitator meeting on September 14 to provide more details and answer all your questions about the role.  We will reach out in the next few weeks with date and time.

It is important for our parish families to be walking with a spiritual friend on their faith journey, to help them find strength and encouragement to grow in Christ.  You will grow in Christ too!  In fact, the opportunity for reward is great!  Seeing our parish families grow in relationship with Jesus Christ has brought much joy and hope to those of us who work in ministry.   Consider the joy and hope that you too can experience by participating in this new and exciting journey.
