October  2020

(Newsletter for St. Maximilian Kolbe Knights of Columbus Council 11355)

Meetings:

October Social/Officer meeting:  On Tuesday October 6th, we had a live meeting at Brett’s house and also had some virtual participants. It was really nice getting together as a group again live even though we had small turnout.

October business meeting:  We will have a live meeting at the St. Max gym.  We could not book the gym for our normal meeting night so we will be having the live business meeting in the gym on Wednesday Oct. 21st with the Rosary at 6:30 and the meeting staring at 7pm. We will be wearing masks and observing social distancing but hey, we will be together again.

Faith In Action (Council Programs)

Faith Programs

Fish Fry-

The council will be supporting the parish by providing a drive thru fish fry with all profits going to the parish. This event will be held in the St. Max east parking lot on Friday, October 23rd, from 4:30 until we run out of food. We need a lot of volunteers, You will be getting a sign up genius, please sign up.

RSVP- See our bulletin announcement below for our Oktoberfest RSVP fundraiser

Oktoberfest has been cancelled this year due to the Pandemic. Due to the generosity of St. Max parishioners, the Knights of Columbus raised enough money from this fundraiser to provide (4) $500 scholarships each of the past 2 years.  We would like to continue to provide for these local Seminarians.  The Knights are asking you go to the Oktoberfest button at  www.saint-max.org and contribute $20.00 for each adult that would have attended Oktoberfest.  This money will all be put toward Seminarian scholarships and to make your contribution go even further, the Knights of Columbus will be matching donations.  You will also be able to purchase chances for spit the pot & our basket raffle. This online fundraiser will be active until Nov 22nd. Together we can do this!

Family Programs

State Matching Funds-at our September meeting, we voted to donate $250.00 to the State matching funds program.  After the State Council matches, this will provide $500.00 for Catholic Education.

Coats For Kids

See the information below we are posting in the bulletin-

The Knights of Columbus provide coats for needy children every year.  Last year with donations from St. Max parishioners and from families of Knights purchasing full or partial cases of coats, we delivered 10 cases of coats to St. Leo’s Parish downtown.  They have already contacted us asking about coats again this year.  You can help us in this worthy cause.  Go online at www.saint-max.org and go to the Coats for Kids button and you will be able to purchase one brand new coat for $20.00 each, a half case of coats for $120.00 or a full case for $240.00.  The Knights will be delivering these coats around Thanksgiving time.  Let’s make sure no kid has to be cold this winter.

Knights: go on the website and donate a single coat, half case or full case of coats

Life Programs

40 Days For Life

Our council is supporting the current 40 days for Life event which is just over half-way complete.

We used to always support the Sharonville event and we managed to get the Sharonville abortion center closed down. There are two 40 days for life events we are now supporting. There is a Planned Parenthood center in downtown Cincinnati on Auburn Avenue and also a Women’s medical center in Kettering Ohio which are performing abortions.  Please support one or both of these events.  The links are listed below to sign up for prayer times.
