Saint Max Church

Fuel 2024-2025

Registration for the 2024-25 year will be available by April 30!

Fuel is our mainstream fomal formation option for early learners (preschool-kindergarten) and youth in grades 1-8 who who attend public school.  If your eldest child is entering preschool-first grade, if your family participated in Spark or Fuel last year, or if you are coming from Catholic school, then Fuel is for you!

(Note:  If your child (grade 2 and older is enrolled in public school and missed formation last year then please enroll in Spark.)

If you are participating in Fuel then you have two formation options available to you:  Home Study OR Faith on Fire In-Person Gatherings

1. Fuel Home Study (Formal Formation in the Home) - In Fuel Home Study you will be following the liturgical life of the Church by completing weekly lessons in the home using the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies.  The Fuel page features video tips and weeklly family guides (curated by our faith consultant).  These resources will help parents navigate each lesson, while also facilitating the home study experience.   We hear from our families that an average time for completing each lesson is about 45 minutes.  Note: Materials for children in grades 2, 7 and 8 will focus on the sacraments.  CONTINUED in 2024-2025: You will receive all Gospel Weekly/Sacrament materials  at the beginining of the year!  Packet pick up and NEW kick off event will be in September.  More details will be communicated soon!

2. Family Gatherings (Formal Formation at St. Max) -  We will be hosting Fuel and Spark family gatherings for child and parent on designated Sundays (4:30-6:00 pm) or Mondays (6:00-7:30 pm) beginning in late September...  You pick the best night for your family on the registration form!  If you choose this option, formal formation for your child will take place during our gatherings in the classroom with a catechist, while parents are in a separate learning session!  The family will then come together for an activity related to the catechism topic of the evening.  Makeup work will be required if your family misses a gathering.  Note:  Youth in grades 2, 7, and 8 will concentrate on the sacraments during classroom formation.   At least one parent is required to attend the gatherings with child.  Gathering dates for 2024-2025:  Sept. 29/30, Oct. 6/7, Oct. 20/21, Nov. 10/11, Nov. 24/25, Dec. 8/9, Dec. 15/16, Jan. 12/13, Feb. 2/3, Feb. 23/24, Mar. 9/10, Mar. 23/24.  Note:  We do not always meet bi-weekly...  There are a couple gatherings one week apart, a couple three weeks apart, and a longer break at Christmas.
