Returning Catholics
Catholics Returning Home
Have you been away from the Church for a while? Have you
ever thought about returning? If so, we would like to welcome you back to
St. Max. We have a special ministry for people just like you who have been
away from the Church. Please join us beginning Saturday, January 16 through
February 13, 2010 from 9:00 10:00AM in the Hospitality Room. We would like
to address your questions and make you feel at home once more in the
Catholic Church. If you have any questions, please call Deacon Jeff at
777-4322 ext. 220 or Carol at 777-4333 or e-mail
welcomehome@saint-max.org.
You were
hurt. You were angered. You were lazy or you just drifted away,
overwhelmed by the cares of the world. People leave the Catholic Church for
many reasons. For as many reasons and more they long to return. If you
have found yourself considering making that return, know the St. Maximilian
community welcomes you back at any time.
But perhaps
you have questions. Perhaps it has just been so long that you are
unsure what the Church is like these days. Let your mind be at ease.
St. Max will be holding a series welcoming sessions for returning Catholics
soon. These sessions will answer your questions and
reacquaint you with the Catholic community. No registration is required. If you have any questions or if you desire more information, please feel
free to contact the Welcome Home team at
welcomehome@saint-max.org.

Prayer of Thomas Merton
My God, I have no idea where
I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where
it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am
following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact
please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that
I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the
right road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore, I will trust you
always though I may seem to be lost in the shadow of death. I will not fear for
you are ever with me and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
