The Sunday morning Preschool Faith Formation Program is offered for children
who are or will be 3, 4, or 5 years old by September 30, 2010. Its goal is to
help children discover and appreciate God’s wonderful world while learning to
show Christian attitudes toward others and worshiping Him through prayer and
song. The program encourages children to recognize their value to God and
strives to prepare them for a personal life of faith.
CALENDAR: September 12, 2010-May 22, 2011 with holiday breaks.
TIMES & LOCATION: Classes are held on Sunday mornings at 8:00 and 10:00 during
Mass. They are held in the classrooms of the Fr. John E. Porter Family Life
Complex.
FEES: $70 per child
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteer opportunities are available. Please turn to the back for
more information.
To Enroll:
The Preschool RFY program will begin to accept registrations for the 2010-2011
session on May 3, 2010. Classes are filled on a first come, first served
basis. Please complete the Registration Form, the Medical/Photo Release
Form and supply a copy of your child(ren)’s Baptismal Certificate. Return
these, with appropriate payment, to the Parish Office or place them in the
Sunday collection basket, attention, “Preschool RFY”. For additional
information, contact the Preschool Office at 777 4322, ext. 119 or
jmcdaniel@saint-max.org
The
Preschool 1 Program provides learning experiences based on the preschool aged
child’s level of understanding and ability to participate. Through stories,
songs, finger plays, games, dramatizations, lesson-related prayers, and
sensorial activities, children can sense God’s love for them.
This program is designed to support parents in educating their children in the
Catholic faith and aims to provide a foundation upon which future religious
education can be built. The books used are the I Am Special series published by
Our Sunday Visitor. More information and other faith-filled activities for young
children are available from the Our Sunday Visitor website @
www.osv.com
The Preschool 2
Program is designed to build on the lessons learned in the Preschool 1 Program.
The lessons are similar in subject matter but are taught using more complex
ideas and activities. These activities are designed for the 4-5 year old child
and the goal is for children to complete most or all activities on their own.
The book used is from the I Am Special series published by Our Sunday Visitor.
More information and other faith-filled activities for young children are
available from the Our Sunday Visitor website @
www.osv.com.
The Kindergarten Program is a bridge between the hands-on approach of
preschool to the more structured setting of the grade school program. In the
Faith First program, we reintroduce the concept that God made the world and
everything in our lives. We then begin to explore basic Catholic concepts such
as “we belong to God’s family through baptism,” and “we belong to a Church
family.” We begin to explore God’s special book, the Bible, and spend some time
learning Bible stories.
For further information, please visit the Faith First website at
www.faithfirst.com. Here, you will find
activities for children and families that enhance the lessons learned in Sunday
morning classes.
