Welcome to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church

St. Max Ministry Guide

Has the thought ever crossed your mind, "What can I do?  I'm only one person!"  When Jesus commissioned the twelve apostles to build His church, they were apprehensive as well.  But with the Holy Spirit to guide them, they went anyway - ONE apostle at a time: evangelizing and changing lives as they went.  The work of "the twelve" has become over two billion Christians today.
That's the "Power of One", and that's what we are called to do:  serve and encourage others to serve too.  The "one" becomes "many, and the "many" becomes community.  Haven't found your niche?  Or maybe you want to try something different?  Keep on trying.  There is a place for everyone in the St. Max Community.   Scroll below to look over many of the  ministries that make up our community.  Can one person make a difference?  A long time ago, a young virgin, our Blessed Mother Mary, said "yes" to the Lord.  Talk about the "Power of ONE!"    Reprinted with Permission, Modern Saint, Volume 18, #2

EDUCATION/FORMATION

ALPHA Contact: Gwen Johnson 777-4322 Ext. 107

There is a place for spiritual explorers on a quest, looking for their true North, a reference point from which they can measure their own life experiences and opinions, where questions are treated as opportunities, not obstacles. It’s an interactive place, where the curious are rewarded for their efforts and the weary are helped with their load, an informal atmosphere where life, faith and God can be questioned and experienced, where Christ’s claims are investigated, His work is examined, and His presence is felt. It is Alpha and it is waiting for you.

Alpha is a ten week course offered in the fall and spring that covers topics like “Why did Jesus have to die?” and “How can I be sure of my faith?” Each Tuesday night during the Alpha session, we gather for dinner, hear a brief teaching, and then discuss what we’ve heard in a smaller group format. It’s a great time to build relationships and get more information about the basics of following Jesus. Pre-registration is required.
