In 2010 this ministry is changing its focus as it transitions its support back to Glenmary field operations. Formed in 2005 West Liberty Outreach had supported the Glenmary sponsored Prince of Peace Parish in West Liberty, KY. This parish was turned over to the Diocese of Lexington in 2008.
In 2010 we will change our focus back to working with the Glenmary Home Missioners to help build up the body of Christ in rural KY. This will be done through works of charity and fellowship in the local community under the direction of a Glenmary person on field assignment with the approval of the pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish.
This includes several weekend mission trips each year that involve doing small projects in the local community. St. Max hosts an annual fund raiser dinner for the ministry and organizes numerous drives to collect items that are needed at the local outreach centers. The Catholic Church at work in rural Kentucky generally serves an area with few Catholics and low per capita incomes.
