About RFY
"As someone from the family lights the newly baptized child’s candle from the Easter candle.Receive the light of Christ… Parents and godparents, this light is entrusted to you to be kept burning brightly.  This child of yours has been enlightened by Christ.  He (she) is to walk always as a child of the light.  May he (she) keep the flame of faith alive in his (her) heart.  When the Lord comes, may he (she) go out and meet Him with all the saints in the heavenly Kingdom."
(Rite of Baptism for Children, #100)

We, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, take seriously our responsibility to support and partner with parents in their role as the primary educators of their children in the Faith.  Thus, the responsibility for the spiritual growth of our children is shared between the parents and their families, our clergy, our Religious Formation of Youth Team and our entire parish community.  We all have an important role to play in bringing our children into a closer relationship with God.  None of us can do this alone – we need each other to participate and fulfill our responsibilities!  Our Catholic Faith is a priceless treasure to be shared and passed on from generation to generation.
Religious Formation of Youth (RFY) is an educational program for students in grades 1-8 who attend public or non-catholic private schools and desire to receive a Catholic education.  We offer a couple of programs, allowing for some flexibility in how your child is educated.  Together we can find the perfect program for you!

Classes in religious formation are offered weekly from late August to May for youth in 1st thru 8th Grade.  Led by catechists who agree to be models of the Catholic Christian faith and lifestyle, our students develop a personal relationship with Christ that is nourished in and through the Church.  A unique aspect of our program is that catechists are guided weekly by our team of educational consultants, who are trained to provide age appropriate Catholic resources for supplemental use in the classrooms.  Visit the RFY Program Options Page for class times and further details about the classroom program. You will find registration materials for 2017-18 on the right hand side of this page and in church.

We also offer our families with children in grades 1-8 the opportunity to participate in the Family Home Study Program where catechesis occurs with parents and children working together in the home.  In this program we use the Faith and Life online series.  Visit the RFY Program Options page for more information about this option.  If you would like to learn more about the program, please contact Mary Lou.

Special Needs: Do you have a child with Special Needs? All children deserve the opportunity to have religious education.  We will work with you to develop a specialized program that allows your child to experience all the treasures of the Catholic Faith.  Contact the RFY Office for further information.

Sacrament Preparation: Here at St. Max the Sacrament Preparation Process is separate from the Religious Education Program.  For questions concerning Baptism, First Penance or First Eucharist for your child, please contact Jeremy Helmes.  You can also visit the sacrament web pages for more information:

Eucharist and Penance

For further inquiries about any of the RFY Program options, please contact the Coordinator of Religious Formation for Youth Mary Lou Baker or contact the RFY Office at 777-4322 x120.
Together, we will continue to nourish the great gift of Faith that each child was given at Baptism.
