ABOUT THE LIBRARY The Monsignor Whalen Library is a multi-purpose room that can be scheduled for 1 on 1 meetings and is sometimes reserved for reconciliation. When not being used, you are encouraged to spend some time looking for books or just enjoying the quiet space. We have 23 categories and over 1,100 books, DVDs, and CDs available to be signed out.
Starting to the left as you enter, our categories are in alphabetical order beginning with Angels and ending with Vocations.
Our Children/Teen/Parenting/ Relationship/DVDs/CDs categories are located in the closet annex.
Our library is set up to browse. The books are organized into categories but most do not have a specific place within the category. Exceptions would be the Catholic Authors and Saint categories which are alphabetical. Several other categories are further identified with sub categories.
You can look up books by title, author and subject by visiting our web page.
VISIT THE LIBRARY Our library is available most any time the building is open. Since it is a multi-purpose room, if the door is closed, it is in use, so please come back another time.

HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY Monsignor Whalen served at St. Max during his retirement from 1991-1996. When he left St. Max he donated his book collection to our parish which the adult faith formation team used to create our library. The library was first housed on rolling book carts (still used to hold Bibles) which were moved to the gym lobby each weekend for use by parishioners when they attended Masses in the gym. Later, the library was moved to book cases in the gym lobby and eventually to its current home off the gathering space to our church. Over the years, many parishioners have donated funds, books, furnishings and their time to this valuable resource. A beautiful picture of Monsignor Whalen adorns the wall of the library.
