Minimize
Wacky Wednesdays start June 12th and continue through August 14th, except for July 3rd.  Have your teen meet us in Liberty Park behind the YMCA from 7:00-8:30pm.  We pray, play different games every week, and take time to get to know one-another.  Teens should bring their signed Release for the new 2013-14 year.

HomeLIFE Communities start again in September, but we're accepting sign-ups all summer long.  Teens long to belong; these communities are a place for them to be themselves, get to know one-another, and receive the challenge of living their faith in real life.  We're also in need to adults to help facilitate each community.  Call Marv at 513-777-4322 x107 if want to share your gift of faith with teens!

How to Protect Children and Teens from Abuse

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati has published this guide to help parents/guardians talk with their children about Child Abuse.  It states, "Discussing [child abuse] with children is perhaps the most important step a parent can take to protect his or her child."

The Why and What of High School Ministry
Minimize
High School Ministry at St. Max is comprehensive youth ministry, following the Bishop's document Renewing the Vision.  We hope to empower teens to live as disciples of Christ, draw them into full participation with their Catholic community, and foster teens' personal and spiritual growth.  As Archbishop Schnurr recently said, if what we do in ministry isn't drawing us closer to Christ, why do it?

Of course we're all here to follow the Good News of Great Joy, so we do celebrate God's goodness and gifts, by having a lot of fun at our events! Rejoice in the Lord always. I say it again, REJOICE! (Ephesians).  In today's world, belonging leads to believing.

Check out the calendar for the 2012-2013 academic year here: 2012 Calendar

Several times a year we offer retreats, mission trips, and conferences.  These 'get-away' events turn down the volume on daily life and turn up the volume on our spiritual life.  Through games, service, witness, prayer, and a whole lot of fun, we build up the Kingdom and get closer to God.

We do social stuff too, like ski trips, canoeing, and laser tag.

And, watch for both regular and spontaneous opportunities to do works of service and justice, like serving meals to the homeless, working to end abortion, and collecting cans for the hungry.

In addition to all these special events, the bread and butter of High School Ministry are HomeLIFE communities and FRESH.  These two alternate, one the first week, another the second week, and they work together.  We need every teen at St. Max to be in a HomeLIFE community, building up his or her faith with their friends. In today's world, belonging leads to believing.  See the sidebar to the right to sign up.
