What is the Vocations Committee?

The vocations committee works to promote awareness and appreciation of all vocations, with special emphasis on vocations to the priesthood and religious life.  The committee organizes prayer opportunities and various vocations-related events, as well as providing support to those discerning or following a call from the Lord to serve as a priest or religious.  Meetings are usually held monthly September through May.

Traveling Crucifix
The Vocation Committee invites interested families to receive the Vocations Crucifix in their homes and to pray in a special way for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. During the week, the family displays the crucifix in their prayer corner, mantle or other prominent place to gather daily for a time of prayer. Then at the end of the week, return the crucifix to the gathering space for the next family to enjoy for the upcoming week.

If your family would like to participate in the Vocations Crucifix Program for a week or have any questions, please contact
 at 777-7756
to sign up for a week.
A Meal and A Prayer

As a service to our priest(s) in thanksgiving for their vocation commitment, the main goal of our ministry is to provide a complete, ready to eat meal, every Tuesday for the priests living at the rectory.  Our ministry is also called upon during the year to provide food for priests assisting Fr. Geoff in two reconciliation services during Advent and Lent.  Foodtidings.com is used to help coordinate this effort and assure that meals are delivered to office by 4:30 p.m. each Tuesday.   The menu is determined by volunteers and uploaded onto Foodtidings.com.  If you would be interested in joining the ministry, you should expect to cook/deliver a meal about 3 times a year.

New or prospective members should contact
Sheryl or call 860-5085 to volunteer and get set up on Foodtidings.com.

Vocation Reflections and Prayers

DAILY PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Heavenly Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into His vineyard.  We earnestly beg You to bless our Archdiocese and our world with many priest and religious men and women who will love You fervently, and gladly and courageously spend their lives in service to Your Son’s Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.   We pray that their lives may always be centered on our Eucharistic Lord; that they be always faithful to the Holy Father; and that they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary, our Mother, in making You known and loved; and that all may attain Heaven.  Bless our families and our children and choose from our homes those whom you desire for this holy work.  Amen.

Ancora Club for Girls

The Ancora club at St. Max is an amazing opportunity for girls ages 11-17 to support the Holy Father, pray for vocations, learn about vocations, and support our local church community. We meet every first and third Monday from 7-8:30 PM and our meetings consist of Adoration and fellowship, where we learn about vocations and how we can better respond to the Church's needs through prayer.

Parents who wish to know more about Ancora Club are encouraged to link to the national
Ancora website.
